Gas prices are expected to continue to rise as a result of an unexpected decrease in oil production from OPEC nations, according to AAA.
Production of oil is expected to be cut by over a million barrels per day beginning next month. The move, which was unexpected, is to last through the remainder of the year.
The increase in the price of oil will increase the cost of gas throughout the country. Currently in New York, the state average has increased by 7 cents from last week to $3.50 a gallon.
Cortland County’s average price for a gallon of gas is slightly higher than the state average at $3.54 per gallon. Somewhat good news though, Diesel prices are expected to continue to decrease. The state average is at $4.85 a gallon, compared to a year ago at $5.32 a gallon.
