The national average for a gallon of gas is up 5 cents from last week to an average of $3.88, according to AAA. This time last year, prices were 20 cents cheaper, at $3.68 a gallon. Prices are expected to continue to rise as oil prices continue to jump, with prices ranging from $90 to $95 a barrel.
In New York, prices are slightly higher than the national average, at $3.92 a gallon. Cortland County’s average is right on the mark with the state average, with a county average of $3.91 a gallon.
When it comes to diesel prices, there is still no relief. The national average for diesel is $4.58 a gallon. Up 10 cents per gallon from last week. New York’s average is currently $4.71, up 11 cents.
