The average price for a gallon of gas in New York State has gone down this week, and is lower than it was a year prior according to the organization AAA.
The New York State average gas price is currently $3.74, down four cents from a week prior. A year ago, the average price in NYS was $3.81. According to the latest data from the Energy Information Administration, gas demand decreased while total domestic gasoline stocks increased slightly. Lower gas demand, alongside declining oil prices have contributed to pushing down prices at the pump. If oil prices continue to descend, drivers can expect further price drops on gas in the weeks ahead.
To conserve fuel, AAA suggests motorists should map routes, avoid peak traffic times like rush hour, and combine errands into one trip while using cruise control when possible.
