Gas Prices Creep up During Busy Holiday Travels
AAA says the national average for a gallon of gas has creeped up 4 cents per gallon since last week to an average of $3.04 a gallon. Prices are now unlikely to be under $3.00 as a national average before the end of the year now. For New York, the average price for a gallon of gas is $3.13 a gallon. This time last year, New York’s average was $3.39 a gallon.
For Cortland County, the county average is a tad higher than the state average, at $3.20 a gallon. AAA says the slight rise in gas prices could mean gas prices may be headed to a “relatively stable” period. High travel demand for the holidays was also cited as a reason for the slight increase in gas prices.
