Gas prices continue their downward trend once again with the national average now at $3.19 a gallon, reports AAA. The national average is 52 cents per gallon lower than what it was just a month ago.
“The seasonal pattern of less driving due to shorter days and crummy weather, combined with a lower oil cost, is driving gas prices lower,” said Andrew Gross, AAA spokesperson. “If this trend continues, many states could see their average prices fall below $3 a gallon by early next year.”
Cortland County, however, remains high. The average price for a gallon of gas in the county stands at $3.68 per gallon, 14 cents higher than the state average. Cortland county sits at the higher end of New York counties with higher fuel prices, compared to when it was the cheapest county in the state during the summer.
