Gas Prices Continue Their Downward Trend – Slowly

Gas prices continue to be on the downward trend, according to AAA. The national average had dropped by 5 cents from a week ago for a gallon of gas. The national average is now at $3.35 a gallon.

For New York, as usual, it is a little bit more, with a state average of $3.44 a gallon. Cortland County however is closer to the national average of gas with a county average of $3.39 a gallon.

AAA reports a drop in oil prices has helped gas prices continue to drop.

“The cost for oil accounts for 55% of what we pay at the pump,” said Andrew Gross, AAA spokesperson, “so higher or lower oil costs will play a major role in the price we pay when fuel-ing up.”
