With the Thanksgiving Holiday coming up, gas prices have continued their downward trend both locally and nationally, according to AAA. The national average for a gallon of gas has dropped 6 cents since last week to $3.31 a gallon. For New York, the average stands at $3.61 a gallon, down 4 cents from last week.
AAA has projected over 55 million Americans will travel 50 miles or more from home during the Thanksgiving holiday, with just over 49 million traveling by vehicle. Motorists will see on average prices down by about 36 cents per gallon compared to last year.
Locally, the average price for a gallon of gas in Cortland County stands at $3.51, 10 cents cheaper than the state average. AAA thanks to cheaper oil and lower demand overall has led to gas prices continuing their downward trend.
