
On Sunday, September 4th around 12:40pm a call came into the Town of Cortlandville Fire Department of a reported structure fire on Monroe Rd in Cortlandville.
The fire department, already clearing from an automatic fire alarm, responded to the address within minutes to find a detached storage building fully engulfed in flames.
Firefighters had to fight the fire from the outside of the building, and called in McGraw and Homer Fire Departments to assist, Dryden Fire assisted in standing by for other calls in the area.
Fire crews were able to knock the flames down in about 10 minutes. The volume of the fire however, was so intense that the siding to the house, about 30 yards away, began to melt. No fire extension was reported at the house however.
All departments were cleared from the scene around 4pm and the fire is currently under investigation. No injuries were reported.
Assisting the Cortlandville Fire Department was Homer and McGraw Fire Department, Cortland County Sheriff’s Office, and Town of Cortlandville Highway.
Dryden Fire Department stood at Cortlandville Fire Station 1 to assist in coverage.
