Area crews responded to a garage fire last night on Saunders Road, near the intersection with Page Green Road.
Members of the Cortlandville Fire Department were already gathered for their weekly training night, when they got called to the scene just after 7:30 pm.
CVFD arrived within three minutes and found a well-involved detached garage fire. They deployed one hose line and managed to bring the blaze under control quickly.
The detached garage sustained heavy fire damage. An adjoining house also suffered minor damage, including melted siding.
Cortlandville remained on scene for about an hour to extinguish any remaining pockets of fire.
Assisting at the scene were the Homer, Virgil and McGraw Fire Departments, as well as the Cortland County Department of Emergency Response and Communications, TLC-EMS and Cortland County Sheriff’s Office.
The City of Cortland Fire Department provided traffic control at the City line.
This incident is now under investigation by the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control.
