Future Shopping Plaza in Cortlandville Moves Forward – Now Needs Aquifer Permit From Town Board

A future shopping plaza in the Town of Cortlandville now only needs an aquifer permit granted by the Cortlandville Town Board before they may begin construction. The shopping plaza, located at 879 Route 13, will be on the land where Garcia’s Mexican Restaurant originally stood. Plans show the building to have four available retail spaces. Developer, Troy Beckwith, had told the Cortlandville Planning Board in a previous meeting that he already has three tenants tentatively lined up for the plaza.

The property would be adjacent to the building that hosts an AT&T Store and the Summit Federal Credit Union with motor-vehicle access also allowed from the rear of the building in addition to Route 13. The building size would be 6,500 square feet and include a new parking lot, landscaping, and lighting.

During Tuesday’s Cortlandville Planning Board meeting, the board voted on two resolutions, both of which the board passed unanimously. The first was site plan approval for the project with the contingency the project adheres to recommendations made by Cortland County Planning, the second was to recommend granting an aquifer permit for the project to the Cortlandville Town Board.

The Cortlandville Town Board will meet on Wednesday, May 7th at the McGraw Community Building in the Village of McGraw.
