A Freeville teen is facing charges after taking his mom’s SUV for a joyride then locking the keys inside.
On Tuesday, State Police arrested 18-year-old Jesse Sharpsteen of Freeville.
Troopers say Sharpsteen took his mother’s vehicle Monday night without her permission. While he was out Sharpsteen locked the keys in the car and had to smash a window to get them out.
Sharpsteen was arrested for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle 3rd and criminal mischief, both misdemeanors. When he was taken into custody police found him with a small amount of marijuana, which he was also ticketed for.
Sharpsteen was sent to the Tompkins County Jail in lieu of $1,000.00 cash bail.
An order of protection was issued barring him from contacting his mother.
