Freeville Man Arrested After Shoplifting Investigation at Walmart

Officers with the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office responded to Walmart in Cortlandville on Friday afternoon around 1 for a larceny complaint. During the investigation into the complaint, officers determined 35 year old Michael J. Murtha of Freeville, had stolen from the store.

Murtha was arrested and charged with Petit Larceny, a Misdemeanor. He was taken to the Sheriff’s Office for processing and later released. Murtha is due in Cortlandville Town Court later this month.
