Freetown Man After Violating Order of Protection – Victim Sent to Hospital

Just after 2:30 in the afternoon on Friday, December 8th, officers from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office responded to 2447 Maricle Road in the Town of Freetown for a reported domestic incident.

During the investigation, it was determined 22 year old Christopher J. Fox of Freetown, had engaged in a physical dispute with a victim at the residence. The victim sustained injuries and was transported to Guthrie Cortland Medical Center for minor injuries.

Officers also learned Fox had violated a stay-away order of protection while in the presence of not only the victim, but two other persons at the residence. A firearm was also discovered inside the residence, unsecured and not properly stored, which also violated the order of protection.

The investigation also found Fox had destroyed a cell phone that belonged to the victim. Fox left the scene prior to officers arriving, but was apprehended by officers just a short time later.

He faces charges of Criminal Contempt in the 1st, a Felony, 3 counts of Contempt in the 2nd, Assault in the 3rd, Criminal Mischief in the 4th, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, all Misdemeanors, and numerous violations.

He was taken to the Sheriff’s Office and was later arraigned via Centralized Arraignment Process and remanded to Cortland County Jail on $2,000 cash bail or $4,000 bail bond. Fox is due in Freetown Town Court later this month.
