Free school supplies tomorrow at “The Squeeze Juice Bar”

Local News, Meet Cortland County, On Demand, What We're Talking About

On Saturday’s Meet Cortland County segment:

Darris McDowell, owner of “The Squeeze Juice Bar” inside the Beach House Mall at 37 Main Street in Cortland, detailed a local school supply giveaway taking place at his business tomorrow starting at 1 pm.

This is the second year of the event, which McDowell said was a great success last year and hopes will draw an even larger turnout this time.

Donations to buy the supplies were provided by local community members, along with proceeds from a recent Black-owned business appreciation event hosted at the Juice Bar earlier this month.

That event was attended by Mayor Brian Tobin and members of the Cortland County Chamber of Commerce.

“I’m overwhelmed by how much support we’ve gotten from the community” said McDowell. “Don’t be shy; don’t be modest — we have plenty of supplies for everybody, so come by even if you just know someone who may need something.”

Food will be provided at tomorrow’s event courtesy of Ty’s Cuisine, a catering business owned by McDowell’s girlfriend.
