New Yorker’s can enjoy the outdoors a tad more as the state has announced this upcoming weekend (June 24th and 25th) will be the state’s second free fishing weekend this year.
Requirements for a license for freshwater fishing will be waived this weekend for all New Yorker’s.
New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Commissioner Basil Seggos said, “Seasoned anglers know New York offers some of the world’s best fishing and Free Fishing Days are the perfect time to introduce these tremendous recreational opportunities to family, friends, and visitors. New York continues to make it easier than ever for residents and visitors to come out and experience all our waters have to offer.”
The DEC does remind New Yorker’s though only the requirement for a freshwater fishing license is waived and all other fishing regulations remain in effect. For those who may be beginners, the DEC has available a beginner’s fishing guide, found HERE. Available also is a site available to find a place to fish, found HERE.
