Free Citizen Preparedness Training Happening at Cortland Free Library in December
The Cortland Free Library says a free class on learning about being prepared for emergencies will take place at the library on Saturday, December 6th at 11am. The Citizen Preparedness Training, the library says, is designed to help residents in the community be ready for any kind of emergency.
During the class, residents will learn about essential skills, tips, and resources to keep themselves and loved ones safe. Pre-registration is required to attend the class and may be done so HERE.
According to the New York State Homeland Security and Emergency Services Citizen Preparedness Corps, severe weather events are becoming more common, and extreme. The free training includes training on how to be prepared for natural and man-made disasters and how to respond, but also recover from them.
Residents will also be advised on creating a family emergency plan and stocking up on emergency supplies. Each family who attends the training will also receive one preparedness kit, the NYS Homeland Security & Emergency Services added.
