Four CHS Students Recognized at Regional Scholastic Art & Writing Awards

Ten students at Cortland Junior/Senior High School were selected from a field of thousands in the region to participate in the CNY Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, held last Tuesday (January 21) in the SRC Arena at Onondaga Community College.

“I am proud of our students,” said Art Co-Chair Jesse Bender. “All ten worked exceptionally hard on these pieces and we were honored to have their work represented in the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. Having a student win the Gold Key is a great accomplishment of the Cortland Art Department.”

Students from more than 90 junior and senior high schools in the region submitted their best artwork for a chance to be invited to the nationally recognized and adjudicated art show.

Out of the ten from Cortland who ended up earning that trip, four would receive further recognition for their projects:
