Former Cortland superintendent accused of harassment at new job

Former Cortland Schools superintendent Larry Spring, who left the same job in Schenectady in March, is now reported to have done so as the result of an internal sexual harassment investigation.

A complaint was filed this year by an employee of Capital Region BOCES and the Schenectady city school system, according to the Albany Times Union.

That was followed by an internal investigation by the district’s legal counsel, who submitted their findings to the school board in March that immediately led to Spring’s resignation.

No further details were released at the time of his departure and it’s also reported Spring remained on the district’s payroll through April 22 to use up personal and vacation time.

Findings from the report included interviews with several more complainants, as well as photos received anonymously of Spring either partially or completely nude – some of which appeared to have been taken on school property.

Spring has not publicly responded to the report.

The 50-year-old took over in Schenectady in 2012 after a six-year tenure at Cortland.
