President Biden has nominated former US Congressman and current New York State Court of Claims Judge in Utica, Anthony Brindisi for the US District Court for the Northern District of New York, which includes Cortland and Tompkins County.
Brindisi has also been serving as an Acting Supreme Court Justice in Oneida County since the start of this year, President Biden’s Office noted. Brindisi was a representative for the US House of Representatives in the 22nd Congressional District serving Cortland County from 2019 to 2021.
“Judge Brindisi is an exceptionally qualified and dedicated attorney with a long track record of service to the people of New York. He is tough and fair and has a sharp legal acumen. I am proud that President Biden has nominated him to the United States District Court for the Northern District of New York at my recommendation, and I look forward to voting for his confirmation in the Senate.”
Senator Kirsten Gillibrand said in a release on the nomination.
Brindisi will replace Judge David Hurd, who will take senior status after Brindisi’s confirmation.
