Coming on April 27th is Foreigner’s new live CD/DVD collection, Foreigner With The 21st Century Symphony Orchestra & Chorus. The set, which was recorded last May in Lucerne, Switzerland, features 14 tracks on the CD and three more on the DVD. The collection features the band running through such classic hits as “Cold As Ice,” “Waiting For A Girl Like You,” “Feels Like The First time,” “Hot Blooded,” and many more.
Foreigner co-founder Mick Jones said in the album’s press release: “I could never have imagined when I set out to create Foreigner 40 years ago, that we’d still be touring around the world and performing the music we love all these years later. Dave Eggar and Chuck Palmer’s orchestral arrangements have shown us a new symphonic dimension of our music, which I hope our fans will enjoy.” In March and April, Foreigner will play a string of eight orchestral shows backed by the he Dave Eggar Orchestra.
The tracklisting to the Foreigner With The 21st Century Symphony Orchestra & Chorus DVD is: “Overture,” “Blue Morning, Blue Day,” “Cold As Ice,” “Waiting For A Girl Like You,” “Head Games,” “When It Comes To Love,” “Say You Will,” “The Flame Still Burns,” “That Was Yesterday,” “Juke Box Hero,” “Starrider,” “Double Vision,” “Fool For You Anyway,” “Hot Blooded,” “Urgent,” “Feels Like The First Time,” and “I Want To Know What Love Is.”
One of the highlights on the new set is the band’s 1981 Top Two hit, “Waiting For A Girl Like You.” Mick Jones described the songwriting process of the one of the band’s key ballads: “It came very naturally within a few minutes and I didn’t think of any instrumentation. I think it just could’ve been played on a piano and would sound good — in fact that’s the way we do it on stage now. We do the first half of the song just with a piano and a voice. Y’know, I really didn’t have any idea, I just felt that we had written a very powerful song, and y’know that sort of governed itself.”
