As of the week ending January 20, statistics from the New York State Health Department show Cortland County has had 130 lab-confirmed cases of the flu since the season began October 1.

In the latest reporting week, which ended January 20, 29-cases were reported – which is a rate of 60-cases per 100,000 residents and 12th highest among New York’s 62 counties.

When it comes to the season-long rate per 100,000 residents, Cortland County is third highest in the state.

The state as a whole recorded more than 7,700 flu cases in the week ending January 20, which prompted the Governor a statewide emergency to make flu shots more available.
