The first septic workshop will take place next Tuesday, June 20th from 7 to 8pm at the Willet Town Hall in Willet. The workshop will focus on how homeowners can manage their septic system more effectively.
Residents will also learn how the system functions, the current system standards, maintenance requirements and schedules, troubleshooting, and system failures. A packet will be available to homeowners to aid them when conducting maintenance on their own septic system.
Homeowners in the county can also receive a $100 rebate on septic system maintenance if they attend the workshop. That rebate may be applied to the pumping and inspection of the system.
The Cortland County Soil and Water Conservation District along with the Cortland County Health Department are sponsoring the workshops with funding through the CWIA/EPF Water Quality Improvement Project Grant administered by the New York DEC.
