Fire Weather Watch Issued by National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Binghamton has issued a Fire Weather Watch until 8pm this evening for South Central New York and Northeastern Pennsylvania.

The dry sunny weather with low humidity and gusty winds are all expected today and could help any fire that devops spread rapidly. Any type of outdoor burning is not recommended by the National Weather Service.

Yesterday, Homer Firefighters already made quick work of a small brush fire off of Route 41 near West Scott Road. A reminder the New York State Burn Ban remains in effect until May 14th. Additional information on the burn ban and exceptions to the ban may be found HERE.
