Fire prevention is this week, October 9th through the 15th. The priority of this week is to inform everyone to have a plan and to practice a home fire escape.

According to the National Fire Prevention Association, you have less than 2 minutes to get out safely once the smoke alarms sound. Smoke alarms are built to sense smoke well before people can. A smoke alarm needs to be in every bedroom, outside of sleeping areas (hallways), and at least one on each level of a residence. It is suggested that you do not put a smoke alarm in your kitchen and bathroom.

The Village of Homer Fire Department will be hosting an open house at the fire station located on Main St. in the Village on Thursday, October 20th.

For our Happin’ in Homer this upcoming Thursday morning, X101 speaks with Joe Riley, First Assistant Chief of the Homer Fire Department to discuss more on fire prevention and their open house.
