A little after 2:30 am this morning, Cortlandville and Homer Fire Departments were dispatched to a residence located at 4447 Kinney Gulf Road for a reported structure fire. This was Cortlandville Fire Department’s second structure fire call in 6 hours.

The first responding unit, an officer from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office, confirmed a working structure fire coming from the attached garage of the residence.

Firefighters began to fight the fire inside the garage and checked the residence for any possible extension. Fire crews had the fire knocked out in about 20 minutes from the initial time of call.

Cortlandville Fire Department was assisted by the Homer, Dryden, Groton, and McLean Fire Departments, Cortland County Sheriff’s Office, and TLC Ambulance.

McGraw and Virgil Fire Departments provided coverage at Cortlandville Stations.

The cause of the fire was found to be an unattended burn pile. No injuries were reported.
