Update: Victim Identified in Fatal Structure Fire In Solon

State and local authorities are investigating a fatal fire that occurred early Saturday (October 26) morning inside a barn on Lapp Hill Road in the town of Solon.

Crews from Cortlandville, McGraw and Homer Fire Departments were called to the scene just before 2:30 a.m. and arrived to find one victim who had already perished in the fire.

Investigators identified the deceased as 35-year-old Paul Burdick III, a resident of the property.

Also assisting at the scene was a loader with the Solon Highway Department, which helped move large bales of hay in order to allow firefighters access to control the blaze.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
