The Firefighters Association of the State of New York (FASNY) winter games have returned and will take place this weekend at Greek Peak and the Park Center Alumni Arena at SUNY Cortland.
The event each year brings dozens of fire departments and hundreds of volunteer firefighters throughout the state for some friendly competition and camaraderie. The competition includes tubing, sled-pull, stokes basket carry, hose race, tug-of-war and broomball.
Fire departments will also be able to win an award for best tailgate setup and farthest traveled with the overall winner being crowned on Sunday.
A timeline of events for Saturday and Sunday can be found below:
Saturday:
8:30 -9:30 am : Registration for day’s events at Greek Peak
9:30 -11:30 am: Firefighter Obstacle Course / Stokes Basket Carry
11:00 – 1:30 pm: Hose Relay at Greek Peak
1:30 – 4:30 pm: Tug-O-War at Greek Peak
4:00 pm: Bonfire
Sunday:
7:00 – 1:00 pm: Broomball Tournament at Park Center at SUNY Cortland
1:00 pm: Awards Ceremony at Park Center – Will take place after Broomball Tournament
