Excellus Provides Update on Ongoing FamilyCare Medical Group Negotiations – Current Agreement to End by December 31st

Excellus BlueCross BlueShield has provided an update on their ongoing negotiations with the FamilyCare Medical Group (FCMG). FamilyCare currently operates the Cortland Health Center located on Fisher Ave. in Cortland.

In a release, Excellus says they are pleased that contract discussions are progressing in a positive manner and they are hopeful an agreement will be met prior to the December 31st termination date.

Back in July of this year, FamilyCare notified their patients of their intention to terminate their professional provider agreement with Excellus. Excellus has been a participating provider for FamilyCare for over 23 years.

“During contract discussions, FCMG has shared that they fully intend to go forward in a mutually agreed upon contract with Excellus BCBS. We are focused on access to high-quality care that’s as affordable as possible. We are confident we’ll reach an agreement.”

Excellus said in a release.

Excellus has stated there is still ample time remaining in the year to reach an agreement and discussions like the one they are having with FCMG are typical.
