Excellus BCBS & FamilyCare Medical Group Reach Agreement
Excellus BlueCross BlueShield (BCBS) and FamilyCare Medical Group have announced their ongoing negotiations were a success and a new contract agreement between the two has been announced, effective January 1st, 2025. The contract will have FamilyCare Medical Group remain in the Excellus BCBS provider network.
“While contract negotiations are a standard part of our business and very typical for this time of year, it is never lost on us how important it is for our members that we reach an agreement and keep the doctors and hospitals they trust in our network,”
said Jim Reed, president and CEO of Excellus BCBS.
Back in July of this year, FamilyCare sent out a letter to patients who have the Excellus Health Plan notifying them of their intent to drop Excellus by the end of December. Since then, negotiations have been ongoing and reportedly reached a positive level earlier this month.
“Our patients are at the heart of everything we do. This agreement reflects our unwavering commitment to advocating for their needs and ensuring they continue to receive the exceptional care they deserve,”
said Dr. Mitchell V. Brodey, president and CEO of FamilyCare Medical Group.
Excellus says if their members have any questions regarding their benefits or coverage at FamilyCare Medical Group, they may call Excellus BCBS Customer Care via the number on the back of their member card.
