“Erin’s Law” Would Require NY Schools To Educate About Child Sexual Abuse

Among the legislation passed through Monday (June 24) by the State Legislature, Erin’s Law is one that continues to get a large amount of attention.

That bill would mandate New York school’s to educate children about “sexual abuse risks from known or trusted parties.”

It was passed nearly unanimously by the Assembly and Senate and now awaits the Governor’s signature to become law.

Statistics show sexual abuse committed by trusted authority figures represents over 90 percent of child abuse cases.
