Around 11:40 at night, on Tuesday, July 2nd, Cortland Fire was dispatched to a reported dumpster fire on Jackson Drive in the City of Cortland.

As Cortland Fire was responding to the scene, an officer with the Cortland Police Department arrived at the scene confirming the fire and noted the siding on the garage next to the dumpster was beginning to melt. Firefighters arrived on scene within two minutes of the call.

The fire was extinguished by firefighters within a minute; firefighters also checked for any possible fire extension to the garage nearby. Cortland Fire says no fire spread to the garage, but there was damage to the building’s siding that was next to the dumpster.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the dumpster fire remains under investigation.
