On New Year’s Day, around 1:45 in the morning, the Cortland County Sheriff’s Department conducted a traffic stop on Route 281 in the Town of Cortlandville on a vehicle for traffic infractions.
Upon investigation, officers determined the driver, 42 year old Steven C. Barron of Ithaca, was drunk. Officers also discovered an open container of alcohol in the vehicle Barron was driving in.
Barron was arrested by officers and sent to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office where he was processed and then released on his own recognizance.
He was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Driving with .08 or one percent more of Alcohol, both Misdemeanors, Speed in Zone, Driving Across Hazardous Markings, Possession of an Open Container, and No/Inadequate muffler, all violations.
Barron is scheduled to appear in Cortlandville Town Court at a later date.
