Just after 1 o’clock in the morning on November 5th, officers from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office responded to I81 South near mile marker 46.9 (South of Exit 10 Polkville) for a motor vehicle crash.
As officers arrived and began their investigation, it was determined one of the drivers involved, identified as 33 year old Ashlee J. Roach of Chittenango NY, was traveling in the opposite lane of travel and crashed into another vehicle head on. Officers also determined that Roach was driving drunk.
In total, five people sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash, including Roach. All five were transported to area hospitals. I81 South was briefly shut down at Exit 10 (Polkville) after the crash occurred.
Roach was charged with DWI, Reckless Driving, both Misdemeanors, Improper Entrance/Exit of a Controlled Access Highway, Disobeyed Traffic Control Device, and Unregistered Motor Vehicle, all Violations.
The Sheriff’s Office says Roach was later released and is due to appear in Cortlandville Town Court later this month.
