Around 8:15 Thursday night, Homer Police responded to a single motor vehicle crash at Glenwood Cemetery in the Village of Homer.
During an investigation, the driver of the vehicle, identified as 33 year old Andrew Overbaugh of Tully, was driving eastbound on Route 90 into the Village of Homer when he lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle then went off road and into the cemetery, destroying several headstones in the process.
Homer Police say Overbaugh was uninjured and intoxicated. He was arrested and charged with DWI, Aggravated DWI, and Unreasonable Speed. Overbaugh was issued tickets and later released.
Officials are still looking at the cost of the damage done at the cemetery. Overbaugh is due in Homer Town Court on October 17th.
