A drug investigation by the Cortland County Drug Task Force led to the search of an apartment on Northcliffe Road in the City of Cortland on Thursday, July 27th.
During the search, officers found three occupants inside the apartment, two of which had active arrest warrants. The two persons who had active warrants for their arrest were 29 year old James M. Glover and 29 year old Augustina C. Rivera, the third occupant of the apartment was identified as 53 year old Alene D. Heath.
As officers were arresting Glover and Rivera, 4 wax glassine envelopes that contained fentanyl were found on Glover with others located in plain sight to officers inside the apartment.
A continued search by members of the Drug Task Force inside the apartment found 41 wax glassine envelopes containing fentanyl, a small plastic bag containing fentanyl, packaging materials, and an electronic digital scale. The street value of the fentanyl was $400, according to the release.
All were charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd, a Felony, Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the 2nd Sub 2, and Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the 2nd Sub 3, Misdemeanors.
James Glover was transported to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office and Augustina Rivera was transported to the Cortland Police Department. Both were arraigned through CAP. Glover was held on no bail and Rivera was held on $1 cash or $1 bond.
For Alene Heath, she turned herself in the next day to the Sheriff’s Office and was processed and arraigned through CAP and released to the supervision of Alternatives to Incarceration. She is due in court later this month.
