Drug Take Back Happening This Saturday at Three Locations in County – Drive-Thru Drop Off

The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office in partnership with Cortlandville, Cincinnatus, and Marathon Fire Departments and the Marathon Area Volunteer Ambulance Corps (MAVAC) have announced the fall date for their drug take back event. The event will take place this Saturday, September 28th at three locations throughout Cortland County.

Those three locations are the Cortlandville Fire Department, from 9am to noon, Marathon Village Green from 9am to 11am, and the Cincinnatus Fire Department from 9am to 11am. The drop off will be a drive-thru style to help members of the community dispose of any unused, unsure, or outdated medications in an easy and efficient manner. The take back event also ensures the medications are safely disposed of and kept out of the hands of youth.

Residents who are unable to attend the take back event this Saturday, the Sheriff’s Office says there are numerous medication disposal kiosks in the county. Those include locations at the Sheriff’s Office on Greenbush Street in Cortland, Cortland Police on Court Street in Cortland, the Homer Police Department at 43 James Street, and SUNY Cortland Police Department at 4 Pashley Drive. All kiosks are open 24/7 with the exception of the kiosk at the Homer Police Department, which is open weekdays from 8am to 4pm.

Liquid medications or sharps will not be accepted during the Drug Take Back Event.
