Driver Stopped on I-81 for Driving 30 mph Below Speed Limit Arrested for DWI
State Police say a traffic stop was done on I81 in Homer in the early morning hours on Sunday. A Trooper on I81 observed a vehicle traveling 30mph under the posted 65mph speed limit. State Police say the Trooper wanted to ensure the driver was okay.
While interviewing the driver, 43 year old Christopher W. Binns of Lansing, Troopers smelled an odor of alcohol coming off of Binns. He was asked to then perform a sobriety test, which State Police say, confirmed his impairment.
Binns was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated, a Misdemeanor. He was transported to the State Police Barracks in Homer. While at the Barracks, Binns B.A.C. was reported to be .12%. He was processed and issued an appearance ticket to Homer Town Court next month.
