A three car crash in Groton on Friday (October 4) resulted in multiple minor injuries, but could’ve been much worse as one of the vehicles involved reportedly caught on fire.
The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene at the corner of Peru and Peruville Roads just after 11:30 a.m.
Investigators say the driver of a Dodge flatbed truck had run a red light, before striking a Jeep that was travelling lawfully through the intersection, causing it to tip, catch fire and collide with a Hyundai sedan that was stopped at the traffic light.
Charges for the driver at-fault are now pending, as investigation into the accident continues.
No identities have been released at this time.
