City of Cortland police made an arrest last month in a hit-and-run that left two bicyclists seriously injured.
The incident occurred Friday, May 14, on Tompkins Street.
Investigators say the driver, 36-year-old Robert Stephens of River Street, left the scene immediately after striking the victims.
His vehicle was later recovered by police on the same night of the crash. Officers secured a warrant and searched it a week later (May 20), along with his residence.
Physical evidence was gathered, which led to the following charges for Stephens:
- Leaving the scene of a physical injury accident;
- Operating a motor vehicle with an open container of alcohol.
