Driver Arrested For DWI After Crashing Into Ditch on Haights Gulf Road
New York State Police arrested a Cortland woman Tuesday night following a single-vehicle crash in the town of Truxton. Troopers, the Truxton Fire Department, and TLC Ambulance responded to the 6200 block of Haights Gulf Road just before 11:30 p.m. for a reported accident with injuries.
The investigation determined that the driver, Kimberly A. Sharpe, 62, was traveling northbound in a Jeep Compass when she failed to maintain her lane. The vehicle exited the roadway and landed in a ditch, causing the airbags to deploy. Sharpe was able to exit the vehicle on her own before authorities arrived.
While interviewing Sharpe at the scene, Troopers detected an odor of alcohol and administered field sobriety tests, which indicated impairment. She was subsequently taken into custody and transported to the State Police Barracks in Homer, where her Blood Alcohol Content was reported to be .12%.
Sharpe was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, a misdemeanor. Following processing, she was issued an appearance ticket and released to a sober third party. She is scheduled to appear in Truxton Town Court next month.
