The holiday season Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over enforcement campaign has begun, Governor Hochul’s Office has announced. The campaign will have additional State Troopers deployed on roads throughout the state looking for impaired drivers during the holiday season.

“Impaired driving is reckless, dangerous and illegal, and we have zero tolerance for it on New York’s roadways,” Governor Hochul said. “We’re sending a clear message this holiday season that those in violation of our vehicle and traffic laws will be ticketed or face criminal charges.”

The campaign runs from December 13th through January 1st. During the enforcement campaign, DWI checkpoints will be in place. Troopers will additionally look for distracted drivers, those not buckled up, and those violating the state’s Move Over Law, on top of impaired drivers.

These traffic enforcement campaigns are funded by the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee (GTSC), which promotes and supports participation of law enforcement agencies at the state, county and local levels in high-visibility enforcement efforts.
