The holiday season continues with almost a week to go until Christmas Day and when you’re out shopping, you should take extra precautions to avoid being the next victim of a crime.
The Homer Police Department has provided tips you should keep in mind when you’re out shopping or about to leave your home to go shopping. Some of the tips include never leaving your purse unattended or open and to secure your purse using a child strap that can be found on most shopping carts.
Shoppers should also keep their wallets in their front pockets, never flaunt cash or carry large amounts when out. For your vehicle, always keep it locked and valuables out of sight or not even left inside your vehicle. Always park in well-lit areas and use your panic button if you believe you’re being followed by someone you do not know to attract the attention of others.
