Donations Being Accepted For Two Families Affected by Fire


City of Cortland Mayor Scott Steve says donations are now being accepted for the two families that were affected by the structure fire on Clayton Ave. last Saturday, November 18th. Both families lost their clothing as well as personal belongings due to the fire.

The Red Cross has provided both families with a pre-loaded gift card to help them get essentials, Steve said in a release, but both need additional support. A collection point has been set up at the Cortland Fire Department on Court Street in the City of Cortland.

Anyone who wishes to make a donation for the families are encouraged to do so. Clothing sizes for both families may be found below:

First Floor Family’s clothing sizes:

Daughter: Women’s small clothing and size 5 shoes
Youngest Son: Men’s small clothing and size 6.5 shoes
Oldest Son: Men XL clothing and size10.5 shoes
Mother: Women’s Lg top and M bottoms
Father: Men’s Large

Second Floor Family’s clothing sizes:

Twins that are 2 years old
Boy – 3T and size 8 shoes
Girl – 3T and size 7 shoes
5 year old son:
Boys M shirts
Size 8 pants
14-year-old daughter:
Womens XL
Size 14 Pants

Mayor Steve also noted his thanks and appreciate to Deputy Chief Reynolds and the entire fire department for taking both families under their wing and looking out for them.
