A new Dollar General Store could be on the way to the village of Homer.
The idea was presented at last night’s village planning board meeting by applicant Dan Griffiths, of Griffiths Engineering.
His plan would demolish the current Super Scoops ice cream shop at 5 North West Street West and build a more than 9,000 square foot Dollar General in its place.
Some initial concerns were raised by the board over whether enough parking would be made available, which Griffiths assured them there would be.
It’s also possible a local variance could be required to subdivide the lot from the adjacent Riverbank auto sales property.
Ultimately, the proposal was referred to the county last night for further analysis and potential recommendations.
