New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) recently warned of a reported text message phishing scheme.
Fraudulent messages designed to obtain data or sensitive personal information are being used in attempts to commit identity theft; or trick recipients into installing malicious software on a computer or mobile device.
The illegitimate texts ask to verify driver’s license information and validate COVID-19 status.
Anyone who receives this should delete the message right away.
