DMV – Don’t Forget to Register Your Snowmobile
The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is reminding snowmobilers to register their snowmobiles before the winter season begins. Snowmobile registrations are required to have annual renewals. Renewals may be done online via the DMV website, by mail or in person at your local DMV Office.
“I’m optimistic this will be a fun winter for snowmobilers and other outdoor enthusiasts in New York,” said Mark J.F. Schroeder, DMV Commissioner and Chair of the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee. “So, before the snow flies, remember your snowmobile registration must be renewed every year. DMV is here to help customers get registered and ready for the trails.”
Snowmobiles that are operated within the state must be registered and marked with a valid sticker. A temporary certificate is provided if renewing online, the certificate is valid for up to 15 days. A permanent sticker is provided by the DMV via the mail along with a registration card.
Those who are members of the New York State Snowmobile Association (NYSSA) or a local NYSSA-affiliated snowmobile club receive a $55 discount on snowmobile registrations. You can learn more about registering HERE.
