John Harrison: Good morning everybody, welcome back to another edition of Peak at the Peak off-season. It’s me and John Spalding, as always, in the studio, on the line. John, thanks so much for calling in one more time.

John Spalding: Always a pleasure to be on with you, John. Great day out there, and a great week to talk about things going on at the Peak.

John Harrison: Yeah, I’m sure. I mean, after this week of just rainy, dreary weather, you know, the sun’s finally peeking out, so it’s a good time to get out there and enjoy Greek Peak and all that it’s got going on. But I know that, you know, with the rain and the dreary weather, there was some somber news that broke recently, and there’s going to be a bit of a memorial service. You want to share with the—with the people what’s going on?

John Spalding: Yeah, sure thing. So Al Kryger, our founder here at Greek Peak, our mentor, long-time leader, passed away recently. He was 87 years old. And I think that people in the community that know Greek Peak and have been here for a long time probably know Al and all the—all the great things he’s done, not just up here at Greek Peak, but for the Cortland community and surrounding areas. So, we are having a celebration of life for Al tomorrow, Saturday, from 11:00 to 2:00, right up here at Greek Peak in our Acropolis Room. And friends and family are—are welcome to join and pay tribute to a great man, a great entrepreneur. You’d be hard-pressed, like I said, to find some things that are up here at Greek Peak that don’t have Al’s fingerprints on it in one way, shape, or form. So, it’ll be a nice celebration of life, and we’re looking forward to celebrating Al tomorrow.

John Harrison: Yeah. And again, that’s going to be tomorrow up at the—the Acropolis Room, you said, and the times were 11:00 to 2:00?

John Spalding: 11:00 to 2:00, correct. Yep.

John Harrison: Yeah. I—I mean, how can you even condense all, you know, all those

achievements into just one day of celebration, right? Me and you wouldn’t be here talking on the phone right now if it wasn’t for Al.

John Spalding: Oh, big time. Yeah.

John Harrison: A life well lived, yeah.

John Spalding: Yeah, as we say, it’s a mountain of memories, and Al’s a big part of those. He put 60 years into Greek Peak, and had a—had a great life, but his life really was this mountain, and making sure that people did have great memories up here and enjoyed every—every aspect of it. So, we’re—we’re looking forward to celebrating him.

John Harrison: Yeah. And then, of course, you know, after the celebration, folks can come on up and—and make their own memories at the—the mountain of memories as you—as you said, right? There’s so many more great things going on for the rest of the summer, and even just around the corner.

John Spalding: Yeah, sure. Of course, coming up on Tuesday is our Burgers, Brews & Views up at The Lookout. That’s been going great. The crowds are growing as the summer has been in full swing, and we encourage everybody to come out. 5 o’clock on Tuesdays up to The Lookout at Greek Peak. This week’s musical act is Tink Bennett. If you want to see the rest of the acts for August through September, go to greekpeak.net for that.

John Harrison: Yeah, check it out, greekpeak.net. Find out if there’s any local acts that you’re—that you’re tracking. It’s a great place to go see them at Greek Peak. I mean, you can’t really—can’t beat the view, and of course, the food, drinks, atmosphere, it’s all great. Make sure to head on up there. Anything else coming up that we need to know about? I mean, unfortunately, we’re—we’re into August, and summer’s starting to wind down, so I’m looking for any last bits of—of summer enjoyment I can find.

John Spalding: I think that everyone will enjoy coming out on Saturday, August 22nd for our Disc Golf Getaway Weekend. We’re going to set up a special day pass for people who don’t want to spend the whole weekend, but if they want to come up for the day, there’s some great clinics, there’s a, you know, for—for putting and driving, different challenges, there’ll be a glow-in-the-dark round, too, live music at Trax, and just overall a great day to spend up here for—for disc golf. So on Saturday, August 22nd, mark your calendars and be looking for that day pass to come up here and enjoy that. I think that’s a great way to celebrate summer as you mentioned, and just if you haven’t gotten into disc golf yet, the clinics are a great way to come in and pick it up and enjoy.

John Harrison: Yeah, and hey, folks, remember that, you know, mark those calendars now because that’s going to be on one of our off-weeks for Peak at the Peak, so we won’t be able to remind you the day before. But that’s going to be August 22nd. And yeah, disc golf is great, it’s so much fun. Frisbee’s already so much fun. I played a fair bit of Ultimate Frisbee back in high school and college, and disc golf is just a fun way to take Frisbee and, you know, not have to worry about running up and down a field the whole time. You get the—the relaxation of golf, right?

John Spalding: Yep. Got it all.

John Harrison: Yeah. Well, hey, John, anything—anything else coming up on the horizon as we’re running a little short on time here?

John Spalding: Yeah, well, one last thing that’s been blowing up pretty good of late is Trax Pub & Grill is now on DoorDash. People are loving it, that they can get their—their fix of Trax through DoorDash. So that’s a new partnership that we’ve just set up, and it’s really going gangbusters. If you need your Trax fix, you can get it even easier now through DoorDash.

John Harrison: Yeah, well, you know, don’t even have to head on up to the mountain, or you could order DoorDash from the mountain, and then after you’re done eating, go back up there and pick up disc golf.

John Spalding: There you go, yeah.

John Harrison: Yeah, well, hey, John, thanks so much for joining me for another edition of

Peak at the Peak here.

John Spalding: Yeah, I appreciate it, John.

John Harrison: Yeah, of course. I’ll catch up with you in a few weeks.

John Spalding: Sounds good.

John Harrison: All right, and for everyone listening at home, it’s been John Harrison on X101.
