State Agricultural Commissioner Richard Ball announced the State Department of Agriculture and Markets is eligible to receive nearly $20 million through a new US Department of Agriculture and Markets grant opportunity.
Funding from the program would aid projects that expand capacity and infrastructure for the aggregation, processing, manufacturing, storing, transporting, wholesaling or distribution of targeted local and regional agricultural products. Eligible projects to receive money include supporting construction of a new facility, modernizing or expanding an existing facility, improving operations through training opportunities, and modernizing processing and manufacturing equipment.
A public comment period will be open July 13th through July 28th on the grant to allow industry producers and stakeholders to provide feedback.
