Residents in Cortland County should expect longer-than-normal delays this week at the Department of Motor Vehicles on River Street.
Clerk of the Legislature Eric Mulvihill issued a statement saying the cause is a temporary shortage in staffing.
The DMV will remain open for regular business this week, but County Clerk Elizabeth Larkin says wait times will be increased. She urged customers to consider moving their planned DMV transactions until next week in order to avoid the delays.
Larkin anticipates staffing levels will be at full strength next week.
She also reminds customers – particularly Cortland County residents – that 12% of transactions completed at the local DMV are retained by the County. Therefore, Larkin encourages customers do their business locally.
