Dee Snider has turned Twisted Sister’s raucous, rebellious Eighties anthem “We’re Not Gonna Take It” into a pensive piano ballad.
Snider reworked the classic to benefit Criss Angel’s HELP (Heal Every Life Possible) charity. The magician also directed the video, which was shot in the deserts outside Vegas and features Snider on the piano, juxtaposed with images of young people shaving their heads and footage of children in the hospital battling cancer.
Angel tells the Las Vegas Review Journal: “Dee and I have known each other since the 1990s and he was a strong proponent of mine for years. We are both from Long Island, or as we like to think of it, ‘Strong Island,’ and his record publishing company gave me the rights to the song and it is our anthem for gratis. Dee was unbelievably generous with his time and participation.”
On September 12th, HELP will throw a fundraising auction featuring guests like Richie Sambora, Vince Neil, Mike Tyson, Black Eyed Peas’ Taboo, Jerry Lewis, Wayne Newton and dozens of others at Las Vegas’ Luxor.
